My Honest Loyal Furry Friends: Dogs and Cats in Literature

According to the latest statistical data published by Council of Agriculture, there were more than 1.53 million pet dogs and more than 760,000 pet cats in 2019 in Taiwan, making the total number more than 2.3 million. In the future, the number may exceed the number of children under 15 years old. Looking back on the history of human civilization, cats and dogs were once used by humans as tools; they have now transformed into our most intimate family members. Despite their changing roles, they have remained closely connected with our lives. Some might be soundly asleep in your living room, while some walk around the streets in the deepest night and come to you if you offer some canned food.

The literary works and images shown in this exhibition include the daily routine of the author grappling with the keyboard and squeezing together on the sofa with their little princess/prince at home. There is also the strange tale of an urban legend involving cat physiognomy. Also don't forget the heroes wandering the streets despite hunger and bad weather. The pandemic has made us physically and mentally exhausted. Why not come check out the healing ambassadors from the planet of woofs and meows!
