This book is an extension of the permanent exhibition, entitled “The Power of Literature: Writing OUR Taiwan,” as hosted by the National Museum of Taiwan Literature. The structure of the book is based on the exhibition’s display of Taiwan literary history, expanded and rewritten as separate chapters for each period and theme. Readers can follow along with the timeline or delve in-depth into individual topics. The book adopts a style of prose that the typical reader is well-accustomed to, with no annotations. Each chapter is supported by numerous excerpts from a variety of writers to assist readers in understanding the topics covered. Thus, this book is not only an extension of a specific exhibition but is also an introductory guide to the history of Taiwanese literature. It can serve as a resource for teenagers or adults who are in pursuit of a deeper understanding of Taiwanese literature.
