Taiwan tropical literature is a style that triggers a Mahua (Malaysian-Chinese) literary wave in the late 1950s for overseas Chinese, and later brings a huge impact on Taiwan literature. This book contains twelve representative works of Mahua (Malaysian- Chinese) literature, including Li Zhi-Shu’s Maggot Nightmare, Wen Xiang-Ying’s Puritan, and Shang Wan-Yun’s Rainbow Flower Water. The content of this collection consists of both Chinese style and Southeast-Asian style, accompanied with the nostalgic sadness of people drifting away from home. The author attempts to enrich Taiwanese literature with diverse colors through Taiwan tropical literature, and to share with readers further various understandings in Taiwan literature.
