Taiwan’s “literary fabric” is woven in various languages that reflect the ethnic and historic complexities of this island. This NMTL exhibit highlights the sonorous literary heritage that was born and nourished right here on Taiwan, and spotlights literature written in Holo (aka Hokien and Taiwanese), Hakkanese, and various indigenous Malayo-Polynesian languages. Exhibit displays are designed to provide a good overview of the core content and value inherent in local nativist literature.

Dates: April 24th, 2010 ~ April 23rd, 2015

Location: 1st Floor NMTL, Exhibit Room D

Where does the literature in Taiwan come from? Of course it is cultivated more from tangible daily life rather than from the imagination or dreams. On the one hand, it comes from the wisdom of traditional agricultural society; on the other hand, it comes from the pursuit of modernization.
